Rauma Ullvarefabrikk has spun Norwegian wool since 1927 in Veblungsnes, Romsdalen. Production remains local, supporting regional farms and skills. Norwegian wool is widely regarded as an environmentally friendly fibre due to hardy local breeds and low-input husbandry.
Fleece is sorted and scoured, then carded and spun into a fine 2-ply that preserves loft and breathability at a fingering gauge. The yarn is then dyed and skeined at Rauma’s Veblungsnes mill. An end-to-end local process that keeps quality tight and transport mileage low.
Hand-wash cool with wool soap, squeeze in a towel, dry flat. Expect a gentle bloom and softening after the first bath. As a non-superwash wool, Finull will felt with heat/agitation. Handle finished garments gently if you want to keep the fabric airy.
Expect a broad spread of heathers, naturals and brights. Designed to sing in stranded yokes and motifs. As with all heathered wools, allow for dye-lot variation and buy enough for your project at the start.
Most knitters wear it comfortably after a wash/block (it softens noticeably). If you’re very sensitive, layer over cotton or wool-silk.
Yes. The fibre “tooth” grips, so stranded stitches behave and steek cuts are secure.
Readily—with heat and agitation. That’s perfect for slippers, bags and finishing colourwork; for garments you want to keep airy, wash cool and handle gently.
